Aup me ducks.

My alternator has packed up on me 300tdi defender.

What are the benefits of fitting a higher output alternator?

I do have a split charge system for a leisure battery setup so would it charge up my battery quicker when driving?

Iirc 300 disco alts changed to a higher rating after a certain year, they also ran a smaller da alt pulley, so as a 300 is a 300 pretty much regardless?

I dont think it would charge your battery quicker, A 120 amp alternator wont actually put out 120 amps all the time.

the i believe the higher the amp out put the more load you can put on them. as in more accessories running.

Yes you can, but don’t forget that your wiring is only rated at so many amps. Just because you fit a 200A alternator, doesn’t instantly mean you can run 200A of current through your wiring. Be very careful with high currents.
