Mentioned this a while back but as there has been interest I am reporting back !!

When I bought my TD4 Sport with 18 inch rims 4 of the Continental Contact 235/50 needed replacement due to cracks.

Replacement tyres the same would have been about £640 for 4.

Bought a set of the above for £60 each.

Had them fitted to my blasted and powder coated rims and they have now been on the car about a month.

They are quiet, good in the wet and seem to be a good purchase.

I have measured the tread depth and mileage and will be updating every 6 months or so to see how they wear.

Starting depth 7mm all across.

Will measure front and back and look out for side wear and rotate front to back if needed.

Happy so far !

7,000 miles on

Rears 6.7
Front 6.5

These are lowest measurements across tyre. Interestingly from the centre band.

Must check tyre pressures for this size. Started at 32 psi all round.

I found that 34 PSI gave the flattest wear pattern on my 18" Sport rims, with 235/55/18 tyres. I initially tried 32 PSI, and found the outer edges wearing slightly faster than the centre. I don't know if 34 PSI would have made them wear perfectly even though, as I sold them when the FL2 came along.
