I've fitted some hids to my 1998 dse, sometimes there's fine and work well, other times only one works, and sometimes neither come on! Has anyone else had this?!?!

Two options...

Change it back to Halogens
or
Check your wiring for security - HID's require a good trong electrical source to strike the lamp.

I had Hid light in my ca and they made a massive diffrence, I had a fault with mine that one sometimes worked, I got from hid direct in manchester, called them and they sent me another control box, problem solved

Aren't they an MOT fail unless they are E approved and self levelling? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Unless I dreamt it...

The EAS is considered the levelling system...and they do need a working method of cleaning the lens

Yes, comes in in January. Must have self levelling and must have headlamp washers. And must be working of course. :D:D

All in all my first answer to "Have i been stupid"? of "YES" would seem to have some merit. :D:D

Indeed !!

I can't moan about them as I did have them fitted to my freelander

But they are a pain in the eyes when your driving towards someone who has retro fitted xenon's !

:D

Put it back as it was.

there is nothing wrong with std set up.
new lamp units if yours are dull/faded..

They are a pain in your eyes when you drive down a street with speed humps or an undulating road when a vehicle equipped with them approaches you, even if they are standard to the car. They will cause a few bloody big pile ups if they have not already.

So once all cars have them we will all get used to them like the halogens :)
You won't get used to your night vision being ruined by silly lights. Instead we'll just have more night time RTCs when every car you go past wrecks your NV. It gets painful on the eyes in these parts.
