The most worrying thing about this whole situation is that MOT testers clearly don't give a #### about the law with regards to aftermarket lighting kits, what's to say they don't take more liberties elsewhere?
I mean, if that's the case, what's the point in the damn MOT? Why should we have to bother spending £40 on a test that is incomplete at best?
It's not the MoT testers job to check the legalities of a vehicle beyond what is set out in the test, the MoT is a basic road worthiness test, it doesn't tell you how good your vehicle is, wether everything is legal and ether it will last the journey home. I have seen absolute ****ters meet the required standard and pass and I have seen many 3 year old vehicles fail the test! Just because something got an MoT pass doesn't mean it's any good!
As for the law regarding aftermarket lights, go read what I have already said, it's been done to death and as WLM said its pointless going over it again as its such a grey area it's down to views and opinions!
Edited for accuracyThe MOT used to be the bold above but not any more, it's 20% bull excrement, 30% horse excrement now.
