Brilliant, read this thread again and have a look at what I have been saying, if its just bulbs then you need to make sure you have got a beam pattern, there are very few headlights that will retain a pattern, if that's the case you need a complete unit, just like that link says, I'm not disagreeing, that's the way it is...

P.s. don't believe everything you read online, I have seen plenty of official links that are out of date, wrong or misinterpreted...
I did read your thread repeatedly, and it is still wrong everytime I read it. Bulb only conversions are illegal full stop. That is the word from the government agency that make and enforce the rules. If they decide that bulb only conversions are illegal, then they are illegal, and please don't patronise me I never rely on information online without doing proper research. Unfortunately I cannot post all of the links I research on here, because they link to sites that are not open to public domain, but require registration to professional bodies.

i`ve got 6000 HID kit in my Disco 1, passed MOT with them in and he checked headlight beam and aim. £30 ebay, best mod you can do as far as lighting goes.

There are a thousand threads on here that cover it if you research but to put it simply it comes down to the fact that hid bulb only conversion were legal, the law changed, it's advanced a few times now but as they were once sold as a legal conversion it's is accepted that these legal conversions, as long as they meet current regulations, are still legal. The loophole comes in the fact that there is no way to tell if the conversion was legally done before or after the change in the law. It is not advertised that way of course but I have questioned VOSA and DfT many times on this during the various MoT seminars and training and each time I have got the same answer, I will go with the officials on this personally, not trying to patronise here but that's the way it is despite what is advertised, believe it or not but regulatory bodies don't always tell it as it really is, UK road laws are all over the place, they contradict themselves half the time!

its getting boreing now..every time this fred comes up its the same old answers

if people want them fit them fcuk what everyone else says..mine passed mot with them others have passed mot with them so thats all im worried about..

Illegal.

But I had them in my last motor for three years with no issues. You know the score, you take your risks.

Would never go higher than 6k though, too chavy and crap light.
Taken from that document

NOTE:
[FONT=Arial,Arial][FONT=Arial,Arial]The information in this document is a summary of DfT’s understanding of what the law requires. However, ultimately the interpretation of the law is a matter for the courts based on individual facts of any particular case. You are therefore advised to consult the relevant legislation and, if necessary, seek independent advice.

Even the DfT are not convinced on this, its not as clear cut as it seems, bottom line is if they meet road saftey regulations (i.e. have a pattern) they are considered legal...

ok - to anyone that has posted about legality and other bull**** you're wasting your time as frankly I could give a **** less!!

I don't care if you do or do not like them, I have them fitted on all 3 of my front lamps and also LED parking lamps and I will not ever go back to Halogen + those tiny crappy 501 side light bulbs. MOT no problem and never has been in any car I've owned!

and the OP didn't ask what you think either, just how to fit! And if he would get more light, and I must agree something around the 5000k – 6000k would give more light than 8000k

and WLM I agree, lets knock this one on the head and end this pointless debate!! And I’ll make sure I flash you all when I drive past :p

Thats ok, so you won't mind when I modify your headlights with my bull bar because you have completely blinded me with your headlights. :crazy_driver:

All i want is people to make sure there not in me face when driving. Same goes for the ****s who drive around with fogs on! It aint big and it aint clever - your a ####. :D

You will probably fail the attitude test when the situation arises as well

To all you COCKS who have fitted his bloody silly HID Conversion, just spare a thought for the poor foooks facing your stupid modification at night. Why do you feel the need to do it. :whoosh::whoosh::whoosh:

At least we'll be able to see the 'poor foooks'.

As said, my HIDs are brilliant, one of the best mods i've fitted to my Disco, regardless if some fool tells me their illegal/poorly installed or even that i'll go to jail for a million years for having them.
