Hi, I'm Rob and I hangout in the North West.

I'm about this far <-> from a buying a Freelander (1) Td4 2.0 Freestyle! I've got a test drive next weekend and really looking forward to it just to make sure it really is my thang before parting with me readys!

Any advice on the Freelander is welcome but I'd like to ask if anyone has had an iPod connector fitted to the standard stereo? Any recommendations? What is the make/model of the standard stereo?

Looking forward to exchanging views etc.

Hi Rob and welcome to the site..............we have a Freelander section ask your questions on there. They will give you all the advice you need. Oh and get used to it being called a Gaylander and not a Freelander :)

Good Point! Thanks Mr Hat. I've figured that one out now and found several iPod references thanks. Not too specific but satisfied it can be done. Not that my decision to buy LR is based upon their acoustics you understand ;)

I had a LWB Defender 110 back in the 80's. Best company car I ever had!

I've returned to LR on my own budget this time and running up 20-25k miles a year, the Freelander seems the best option. 3,000 miles plus of these each year are in the French Alps so if anyone knows any really good green lanes in SE France, please drop me a line.
 
yu cud come along on the french trip.
if yu gonna go for the Hippoo - the td4 is the best - full service history and the best warranty yu can get.

Cheers for the welcome Cat! I rarely give a Monkey's what anyone else thinks so I see I'm in good company ;) . It's 'horses for courses' as far as I can see. I'm an old LR hand, done the big tin box bit and now I'm looking for comfort as well as a British built 4x4.

Migrating, this time, from MG, I'm used to getting stick. But let me say here and now, despite any critisism from the press or otherwise, I've had 4 years fun and trouble free motoring in one of the best touring cars money could buy (Sadly no more!).

Yeah. I've got one. Never worked too good with the Kenwood in my MG. There was a lot of high pitched whistle in the background that used to drive me mad so I bought the Kenwood iPod connecter that plugs into the CD socket and changes playlists through the AM / FM buttons.

I pick up my new Freelander on Thursday (If the Halifax come through on time with the cover note that is!!!) so I'll give it a try again if I can find it. The beauty of the Cable Connection is that I could hide the iPod in the Glove box and change playlists and tracks through the Stereo controls rather than having a tacky bracket on the dash (my opinion of course).

Thanks for the comment though, I'll give it a try again.
