Fair point, although you do them a slight injustice, it was colonised by europeans from about 1600, I think.

I was referring more to the fact that Newfies have the reputation among other Canadians of being " different"! ;) :D
True, when I was over there every Irish joke you've ever heard substitutes "Newfie" for "Irish".
How do you confuse a Newfie? Put him in a round room and tell him to stand in the corner.

I believe Newfies were mostly English. We went to Nova Scotia.
