A little bit of luxury is nice but it would be a daily usage car around cities with the odd long distance (Scotland, Wales etc). I don't have space for more than one so it has the be THE ONE!!

well that sort of would lead me to suggest.
L322 : loads of luxury, eats miles, can be large for some around town.
D3/D4/RR sport: Same luxury , eat miles. A little smaller than 322.
Freelander : luxury in some models, smallest for around town.
Ejoke: just No.
Defender: not so much luxury, can be noisy, some hard work around town (depending on model) Newer probably better but not the New New one please.
They all have their own set of reliability issues so finding a good one can be challenging.
