Hi,

I got a slight concern, recently i have been hearing a high pitched squeal coming from a wheel i think, Comes in at all speeds etc etc. It seems to go though under breaking, but then re-appears when u release the brake. Funny thing is its not constant, sometimes you can hear it, others you cant.

Any ideas what it could be?

What i know:

Pads and disks are fairly worn (need replacing by end of year)
Cant hear any rumbling noise (But havent jacked her up and checked properly)
Car seems to drive fine
Havent really noticed any oil leaks etc (but havent checked properly)
Tyres seem to be wearing evenly.

Cheers

Strange, I've got a similar problem. Ocasionally a high pitched squeal / buzz comes in at around 120kph. Sounds like it is rh front although it seems to eminate from around the binnacle area. Totally confused cause it appears very seldom.

yeah i thought it must be some sort of bearing, but as it wasn't rumbling etc, it confused me. I thought they were sealed bearings, so does that mean i need a whole new bearing/hub?

you could try a bit of coppergrease on the back of all the existing brake pads before you shell out on hubs?

well i dont really want to shell out to be honest, i can live with a squeak for a while as long as she dont seize up.

If discs and pads are due replacement it's likely to be a pad 'falling over', or not applying/releasing squarely to the disc or to the piston in the caliper. Personally, I'd get 'em seen to ASAP. As above, a smear of copper grease on the backs can help, but only cures the symptom, not the fault.
