Hi all, I'm new to this and I mean brand new! I don't even own a land rover! So I guess I've joined here to get as much help and advice as I possibly can. I currently have a 14yr old imported L200, which I like but it's just not a land rover. I need to be pointed in the right direction as to getting one. I'm currently planning a family so I'm guessing a 110 would be better? My missis doesn't seem to think a 90 would be as safe for strapping a kid in, would she be right? What are the implications of owning a land rover or arent there any? I've got loads of questions (as you can probably tell) so I'll relax for now and when I hit a wall I'll call for help. Well cheers for reading so far hopefully I'll speak to you soon (in possession of a landy *hopefully*).:dance:

Cheers, I've got loads to think about. Need to consider budget first and what I can get for it. Plus I want to part ex my L200 too.

110 SW is definitely the way to go unless you budget would stretch to a double cab. Condition is more important than age, so make sure you thoroughly check over the bits that deteriorate if not looked after i.e. Bulkhead & chassis. Diesel engines are bomb proof if well maintained, and the newer the diesel engined model, the more power. Avoid non turbo diesels, as with the size of vehicle you will be looking at, they are too slow. My order of preference (and others will disagree) would be TD5; 300 Tdi; 200 Tdi.

You don't say how useful you are with spanners. But one of the best things about Land Rovers, after driving them, is the availability and price of spares. There's also a whole industry of accessories you can buy from to customise your vehicle to your taste.[/QUOTE]

Well that should cover your first tank of diesel. :D:D:D:D:D

There are some safety issues - it's unlawful to use a baby/child seat on sideways facing bench seats - so you would need a 90 with forward facing rear seats. Beyond that the issue is not one of safety but practicality. A 90 with rear seats does not have much storage space- non Landy people often don't realise how short a 90 is.
Thinking back 13 years, to when my daughter was a baby, I can remember all the paraphernalia that went with a trip out on the car. Firstly, there's the buggy; then the spare nappies; at least 3 changes of clothes; bottles of pre-expressed or formula milk; toys; Cot if staying beyond 6.30 pm; night clothes; creams/talcum powder/towels for after bath/baby oil/wipes/;

It gets a bit better when they get older, but the buggy gets replaced by the bike; they still take 3 changes of clothes (particularly if they're girls) but at least one change etc etc.

110 is the only way, and trailer for the missus.:D

Cheers guys this is really helpful, I especially like the trailer for the missis that could be useful!! Also I'm not bad with a spanner and that's why I've gone for a land rover because of the ease of fixing, I can't wait till I get one and it definitely will be a 110!! I'll upload pics whenever I get one! Thanks again!
