Hi All,

Just joined the forum. We have a 2003 Freelander Serengeti 1.8SE Station wagon, 31k miles from new and was the local dealers demo car for 6 months before we had it. So, we've owned it about 3.5 years now.

We have had the dreaded HG failure but it wasn't catastrophic, it gave warning when the heater stopped blowing hot air so I checked the levels and noticed before any damaged occured. It still drove fine but wouldn't for long, althought the main dealer did drive it about 30 miles like it but on their head be it!

Anyway, we had the HG done under warranty and all has been well.

I do tend to think the freelander gets a bit of a bad rep, the HG is the only fault this car has ever had (with one small exception perhaps and I'll get to that shortly).

When we 1st bought the car we had a fantastic off road experience day in another freelander and a defender, it was great fun!

The only thing that is a bit of a pain is that the black cloth seats get stained by rain water very easily.

On question I have is with regard to the alarm and immobiliser, when we unlock and get in the car it has started to make a double beep for about 15 secs, the beep happens at exactly the same time as the red LED for the alarm flashing - there are no other adverse symptoms. Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Nice to be here and looking forward to offering help to others where possible.

Cheers,
K

Watchya matey, welcome

Whereabouts in Sussex are you?

Ade

Hi!

No, not in Sunny Sussex these days. I defected to Kent back in the 90's (work related move) but Hastings, St. Leonards, Bexhill and Seaford were my old stomping grounds. :)
