Do the Abs/tc/hdc lights come on with the ignition then go out when started?,if they do does the Tc light come on when your front wheels are spinning as it should?,its not unknown for folk to dick about with the lights to please an mot tester.

There is deffo something wrong then,Tc light should be on with associated mechanical buzzing/grinding noises ,you need to find someone with Hawkeye/Nanocom to check what faults its showing,have you checked that the Abs is working by trying to lock up the wheels on loose ground,I suspect its not though regardless of warning light status
fink you need to get hold of a copy of the instruction book and read it.....once you know whats supposed to happen and why youll have arf a chance of telling whether the lectronic gubbins is workin or not.
first off ,if it spins front wheels an a slippery slope, turn it round and reverse up to see if it spins the rear wheels.

No cos it would be impossible for both to be driven at the same time on an open. It may look like they are as both are powered at a similar rate with drive swapping rapidly between but open diff one will always have no drive and one will have. It's just the way they work as the spiders don't lock, tc just brakes a wheel making the diff switch to the wheel with grip in order to try and keep power down

Both unless he has a cdl in which case can split drive to axles 50/50 on a full time basis but not able to split to wheels 50/50 as open diff will always differentiate power between to try and keep the wheel that's got less grip spinning faster. I.e. outer wheel needs to spin faster than inner when cornering so diff sends power to that one and stops sending to inner so one slows one speeds up unlike with locked axle that would cause a jerky turn

It would split 60% of torque to the rear in that case through the centre diff but the diff in axle only splits one way if open as drive alternates between the two sides rapidly depending on which wheel has the grip

Yeah basically that's why if stuck and you have one wheel in air and look at what's being driven when putting foot down only one will spin

Unless of course the traction control is working which would brake the spinning wheel and send power to the other one,which is the op's problem,his TC on his Disco aint working !
