Hi All,

Been browsing the forums for a few weeks now and thought it time to say hi. I recently bought a G-reg Defender 90 Hardtop 2.5TD.

Absolutely love it, prefer it to driving my car as it actually requires some input from me! Just fitted a Safari snorkel too and have a long list of jobs to work on!

No doubt I'll be asking for help soon...

Welcome to you :welcome2:I'm a new boy as well, got a Defender 90 TD5 about 6 months ago, also fitted a Safari Snorkel, did it myself and I have to say it was a total b*****rd. but you do get some pleasure from doing it ya self. I also have a light bar with 4 x 7 inch Roo Lites and a CB. I agree with you, love driving the Landy, you get a lot of waves as well. Wife thinks I'm completly bonkers as my main car is an A8. That said she loved coming on the London to Brighton LR run. Maybe see you at an off road and green lane day sometime.

Yes fitting the snorkel took longer than I'd hoped, but tracking down a rivnut installer seemed to be the hardest bit! Also had to cut 6 threads off the lowest bolt as it hit the plastic inside.

Light bar and steering guard are the next mods on the list for mine while I look into wheel/ tyre upgrades! I'm not a technical person but like you say it is satisfying to work on something yourself, even if only in a simple way until I get more knowledge over the years.

My day to day car is an Audi too, but there's no soul like in the 90, and I do like the feeling of a community with the wave.

steering guard are the next mods on the list

May I suggest that you fit HD steering arms instead. You will find that the steering guard will act like a plough in deep mud and slow/stop your progress. Also the arms are lighter than a guard......and yes it does make a different, hung out the front like that :)
