Hi I am new to all this I have just bought a 200tdi disco I am wanting to put some really good off road tyres I will mAinly use it off road but need to be road legal tyres to get me places what's the best make model and size tyre a standard disco will fit. Thank you

Think I am gonna go for the recip trial or maxi 3d's are they good if so which one to choose good idea or bad idea?
I am around the Thirsk area and planning on going to frickley centre as soon as I get winch and tyres

Been to buy tyres today but the 4x4 centre says the tyres will break my disco they said it will break half shafts is this true???

Yes and No

Good grip is fine, no grip is fine untill the tyre suddenly finds grip then a half shaft can get broken.

It's not the tyre that does it though is it. That can happen with almost any tyre if the conditions are right i.e. loads of wheel spin then suddenly masses of torque.

If you've never driven off road before join a club and see what everyone else runs cos I gaurentee no matter what anyone says the best off road tyre is without the right driving technique you may as well be in a ford ka.

For a novice who's realistically only going to be 50/50 on/off road the cheepest All Terrain tyre will be as good as any other.

In fact I'd even go as far as to say unless your going to be doing TYRO's or 100% off road don't even think about MT's
 
Thank you for your help I have had a few 4x4 frontera disco v8 2x 90's and a hilux always only played in local places more used for quad bikes but want to get into off roading more and the way I see it is they tyres and wheels will come off the car when it goes to scrap or sale.
Am just having a play with the disco then looking for a nice off road prepped 90

Picked the disco up for £650 run it through winter and sell it for easy that amount. Or if it's broke weigh it in should get £400 ish betime I take stuff off etc so really not bad for a play around just hope we get lots of snow

Hi I wish I knew where to go down the lanes but normally just get stopped by farmers lol fancy a day out this way you could show me the lanes lol
I am planning on going to frickley on the 20th just bought my tyres got a winch bumper coming need to decide which winch to buy only thing is I don't think I will have time to fit them all tyres are priority. Just worried about getting stuck somewhere and no1 to help lol
