Hi everyone,

I've just signed up to LRZ and it looks great. I am hoping that someone can throw some light on a fuel gauge/sender problem with my TD5.

The fuel gauge has stopped working (reads empty) although the tank is approx 3/4 full. The low fuel warning light is permanently illuminated.

I tried to access the sender unit but it looks as though it is in the top of the tank with no means of access without removing the tank! Is this for real??? If so what idiot designed it like that??!!

Can anyone suggest a diagnostic process and/or a home-mechanic solution as I am very competent with all things mechanical but when it comes to electronics and cars that are full of computer wizardry well that's another matter......ok so I hear you say "Why buy a TD5 then?"

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

Hi and thanks for your reply. It's a '99 Defender 110 TD5 CSW. Sorry I didn't make that clear (I had put the details in my profile but overlooked the fact that these didn't show in my question)!
