Hello I am a brand new member and I have a problem, I steam cleaned the engine of my Discovery 3 diesel today and 50 yards down the road it lost gears (its an auto) the light on the dash for lo range is flashing constantly and the car won't select hi or lo range so therefore it won't select a gear, Have i done something with the steam washer? What can i do ?

I think the steam cleaner will be ok but if in doubt return it to the manufacturer.

This is a repeat of what i replied to on your other post.

Yep, fluid ingress into a sensitive (electrical) connection. Remove all connections one at a time and dry out with your hair dryer. Replace dried out connector before removing next one. ( Old LGV Trick ) Don't steam it off again unless you want more of the same.

Green flag have had it on diagnostics and the ecu says there are no faults anywhere?

Well it must be fine then!

It's obvious that the water from the steam cleaner has cause an electrical short, you need to dry everything off and check all fuses and connections. No brainier really. I would suggest that if you steamed towards the bulkhead that its possibly in that area, if you did the underneath where the gearbox is then it will be that area

:clap2:

behind your battery you have 2 or 3 ecus bolted to the bulkhead youve got engine ecu and transmission likely hood is youve got a bit owater between the plug and ecu check connections and check for moisture iv had a few where the pins have corroded on the ecu so becareful when removing the plugs cheers mike
