Pull up a chair & get comfy, if you don't like the chairs then pull up a floor-board :p
What sort of Disco has the honour of helping your hair go grey ;)

And whereabouts are you? (I'm near Swansea & suffer with 200tdi Disco 1's:cool: )

new to the disco first i've had picked it up on thursday, not sure what one exactly it is all i can tell you is its a 2.5Tdi lol im sure i will be learning all about it soon though.

im in aberdare so not so far from swansea myself :)

ok silly question but it looks like its something i should find out soon, how do i find out if its a 200 or a 300! at this point all i can tell you is its a 1998 model estate (without the boot seats) and its 2.5Tdi manual. and i like it haha

1998 2.5l 4-cylinder Diesel would be the '300' tdi ;)

Sorta evolution of the '200'tdi but not that many interchangeable parts but the '300' is easier to work on - cambelt & waterpump for example :(

Also you have a diferent gearbox (r380??) to the '200's lt77 aswell as the body styling and interior differences, the D2 (1999 onwards???) is similar styled but with exception of a few things like the gearbox / transfer box & diferentials (not axles??) I don't think much else transfers

Although I'm probably completely wrong :p

If its a one piece serpentine belt in the front of the engine, behind the fan, then its likely a 300TDi.
The layout of the gearbox will indicate what gearbox it is (reverse being right and back is R380)

I wouldn't assume the engine type based on the year/VIN as it could have been converted.

reverse is right and back (where 6th would be) and i think it was a single belt but i'll have to pop the hood to be sure. tomorrow im hoping it will be an ok day so i can get some pics and do some checking over see what if anything i can find. (new to the landy world so no clue really other than basics atm but more than willing and wanting to learn haha)

i may need some pointers on where to look but i was told the main welding known on these to go "has" been done, i know the boot floor has been done and the inner arch/sil's under where the back doors close. was told bout a few other things welded too but i was too keen to get my hands on the keys so wants really listening too well haha

If you've got a landy then you'll need to weld & throw spanners o_O

Sometimes throwing spanners AT the welding :p
