Good morning, A new boy to this forum, an old boy to Landies. Many Many years ago was member of LROC which turned into ROA nearly all my driving life (47 years) I've been a Landie owner either as main car or second car, tow tug, or just for fun.
My last a 1968 LWB safari came to france with me in 90 with a good MOT and was immediately failed by the french authorities for rusty chassis. I got a new one shipped over refitted all including the Perkins 3litre new jap engine that I'd fitted just before coming to France (wow what an engine!) and used it a lot till I decided to give it to my 2 boys in UK.
Since then, 6 years, I've had a sort of "rash" that wouldn't go away, I suddenly realised that this was due to a lack of landie in my diet.
On Ebay I found a defender in Marseille (1300km from us here) and with tongue in cheek and butterflies in tummy I bought it for a reasonable price. Took the train down to marseille and took posession, drove home over 2 days had to do a number of odds and ends but have ended up with quite a good and presentable workhorse cum joy!
I am a restorer of tractors and ancilmlary equipment in my spare time so with a good flatbed tipping trailer Landie is often used. A couple of weeks ago I went 1200km round trip to pick up 2 tractors, and with a load of 2 tons+ no problem at all, except running out of diesel on the peage! The most expensive fuel I've ever had to buy!!
There are one or two problems that I will post mainly concerning the blower and water ingress into the cab. So be gentle with me at my age, computers and forums???
It's good to have a landie again, Thanks for your anticipated welcome
