I'm just in the middle of rebuilding my series 3 swb,and my opinion is,if you intend to keep the landy more than 10 years get a galv chassis. If you dont intend keeping that long and the existing is repairable, repair it and spend the money you've saved on parts like suspension, springs and alike because when you sell it your never gonna get what its really worth. Many may not agree but you really need to look at it properly,it'll still be the same to drive as one with galv chassis just cheaper and the same amount of fun.:)

thanks for the welcome i think its going to be a weld job for now? have spent money on cylinder head refurb also pistons and rings and gaskets also found flat spring or part off in gearbox oil which i think is detent spring so i think more money there to be spent i have welder and 3mm metal so at least i can carry on with chassis for a bit and save some pennys up cheers all

:welcome2
From Elgin I won a Fleabay SWB diesel back in august, like you too many beers the night b4 and a new mobile that alllowed me to surf in bed 1/2 asleep, placed a bid :doh: later that day i was the owner of a landy:eek: she had stood for a couple of years but after bit of TLC ok lot of TLC she is going for her MOT in thr morning.
So dont diapair just think off every problem as a challenge

Oi Oi - welcome to the madness :D

I agree with DM68 - Personally when I restore i like to go all out and do the whole lot - I've lost money on most of my builds, but i'm not in it fer that, I'm in the mindset that if / when i sell on my build i've rescued a classic / rare ride from the evils of time and hopefully the next owner will carry on and look after it (optimism being my weakness!) :D

Granted i'm repairing the multiplicity of bad "repairs" on mine ATM, But when the money allows it'll bget a new Galv Bulkhead and chassis... I just haven't told the wife yet.....shhhhhh ;)
