Howdy!,

Just managed to get hold of my first LR, we're a young couple, but after a year in australian have developed a thing for big cars, I picked up a 2002 V8 Vogue that was going for the right price a few weeks back, thankfully it's mechanically sound & looks the part so just thought i'd join here and gain / share a little wisdom about these great cars.

Thanks All.

Chris

Well I don't know because you haven't put a location :p

Horsham myself you?

Around here we got 2 pay and plays , Slinfold safaris near tangmere and they also do the chalk pits at shoreham by sea and another can not remember the name at Boney A272 look em up on google or they advertise in the Lro magazine .

Since I sold me defender I don't do much now as I know the perils of of roading broken uj's ect and I need mine for work plus I wouldn't in me rangie anyways
I've always thought the smart ones are the ones that take an old dog on the back of a trailer .

We also have a Greenlaning in guilford section look it up speak to strange days ask nicely and they might let you come Along if you respect the rules of Greenlaning .

Ok hope this helps

Joe

Now of to have a look at your wreck ;)

My wreck, How charming, i bought the "wreck" by choice, i'm not stupid enough to lose 30k on a car i'm paying for with real money (not finance).

i'm in the charlwood area on the back side of crawley.

i was considering buying a banged out defender or something but this vogue came up for the right money and after checking it and checking it again i almost robbed the guy. i don't have special bits (the car is stock) and that's the way it's staying, the only reason i even bought it was because the husky has outgrown the '12 Punto i recently bought the mrs.

thanks for the info about locations, i just want to have a little go, get the car muddy, i've got to get the air suspension warning off & any underlying problems fixed before i put it in that position though.

was going to buy a sport, didn't. they are pretty ridiculous in every way. not really a land rover is it. overall pretty thrilled with my purchase & the money i paid.

Chris

i have got a bee in my bonnet, i'm really sorry, i know a few local tax evaders / street pharmacists that drive sports & think they are the best thing since a toaster...

:) i'll give slinfold a go with the mrs :) we certainly wont be ragging it, it's more of a "what terrain can the car handle" not "how fast can i drive over these bumps" like you crazy defender owners seem to do :p

hah, the wreck needs a few new bits,

i need to get hold of some new rear lights & the air suspension needs looking at (i have a thread in range rover talk) i also want to pick up a set of side steps (to be put on after we've mucked around in the mud) and a tow bar.

Chris

also,

nice horses, they yours?

we've been thinking of getting our own for a while, my girlfriend used to ride & a local school, but one of aforementioned tax dodgers owned said yard & started to get paranoid & obsessive / controlling about my girlfriend going there...

if you're part of that "scene" and know anyone it'd be good to have a talk about this?
if in exchange i can provide some IT knowledge :p

Chris

Sorry did I say Slinfold I meant Slindon they are close and sound similar, they have both parted from this earth now one was my girls , bella boo .
