Actually the top door hinge but of the bulkhead, it’s rotten and the door doesn’t quite close flush shall we sayI'd almost be surprised if it didn't
Footwell? = pretty normal - YRM are probably the best place - but they are up near you

I disconnected the door check for jumping in and out opening closing gates in mine. In end the top door hinge snapped off along bulkhead. Was pain to weld but worked okay. Door didn’t sit flush as you say but made no difference was like that for years
