From the Netherlands I am, so excuse me for bad spelling now and then. We've just bought a 2002 d2 and it's not totally and fully functional but it moves. Body work is splendid so no rust accept for some small usual traces. Motor is running almost fine but not faster then 90km h (sorry i am metric) so I'd suppose some kind of not getting enough diesel for the rest a new auto gearbox would do. And we have a series 3 but that needs a new engine

So, what do you think of Brexit? Just kidding..
Is your in tank fuel pump ok? Also check for oil around the injection wiring loom..
I'm sure you'll get the help you need here..

D2's are a nice bus - What's the service history like ? It's probably worth changing the fuel filter as well as what Turktowner says above.....

Have you got diagnostics ? would be worth having a look at some live data if your problems persist....

Service so far other fuel pump but I think I hear it singing once and a while, then again dunno what a good d2 sounds like the filter is changed also pump is second hand. Original pump failed me on my maiden trip home but the seller got the other in quickly. I guess he wanted to get rid of a problem quickly (rolll)

Don't worry about bodywork it's underneath rot can set in.
I don't know if 90kmh is fast or not -blame brexit I'm guessing not lol. I'd advise throw some injector cleaner in fuel and give it a good hard run watch the crap fly out the back
