Hi everyone, I've owned a couple of land rovers and used this site when requiring some basic maintenance advice. I've got a problem that's occurred tonight and I don't know where is best to put it so apologies if this is the wrong thread to post in. Long and short of it is my rear drivers wheel on my disco one has a problem I think (I know zero about cars... Sorry) it's to do with suspension. I've looked through the Haynes manual and still can't figure it out. I need my car for work so desperately trying to arrange to get it fixed ASAP! I've added a picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated! IMG_20180813_185925.jpg IMG_20180813_185922.jpg

Looks like the lower shock washer has worn away and the nut pulled through the washer, bush and mount.

Chock the front wheels and remove your rear road wheel to get a better look at it and see for yourself.

I have a few posts in my members vehicle thread about fitting rear shocks, you should have a look.

Not sure exactly where but they're in there somewhere.

Q. Does "bad-side look like the "Other side"?
If not, and the other side looks nicer/has no problem. Make the dodgy side look the same as the non-dodgy side?
Just a thought.

Thanks for all your help! Pinged off a bush! Just slid the shock absorber back into place and ordered some replacements. In the meantime, any idea how to put together a makeshift bush until they arrive?!

longshot but if you have or know who has a motorcycle shock absorber they usually have a rubber bush pushed into either end of the shock mounting that may work , but its a real bodge it to get home affair

Do you have any spare bushes and big plate washers?

Park it up on the drive until you got the right parts, not being funny, but you are talking about the suspension, the bit between the axle and the chassis, it's quite an important set of components.

If you ring a motor factors early enough (usually before 9am) they can have the parts in for that afternoon, just order a set of cheapo shocks for now until you decide what to upgrade and replace them with.
