ive just got a 97 range rover 4.0 v8 se with lpg...167000 miles but history to 150...drives very well however a couple of niggles...has slight oil leak...ive cleaned everywhere I can get my hands to and it seems to be from around or above the oil filter but nothing visible when looking down under the bonnet...any suggestions as to where it could be coming from...secondly ive tried to reprogramme the central locking with the correct code out of the handbook but with no success as of yet, the bodywork gleams ..it really does look good but common headlining problem...any tips or advice greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Could be one of the oil pressure relief valve covers - they are sealed with an O ring that can get old and brittle.

They *can* be done with the timing cover in place but it is fiddly.....easiest way is to remove the front timing cover and replacing with it off.

There are two covers, one above the oil filter and one on the opposite side of the timing cover to the oil filter.

Scroll about half way down the page you'll see one of the covers being removed and the O ring in question.

u obviously know what ur doing...wish I lived closer lol..but thanks I will have to inspect further see where it is coming from
