Ok so go on youtube and look up HHO, am not sure if its some kind of elaborate joke or not yet, but if the results are anything like as good as it looks then it has to be worth considering.

I did some more research on HHO and it seems relatively true that it does work and quite a simple process HOWEVER I have not met anyone who has done it and my sister, a chemistry buff reckons it could work as the HHO gas is present and exists.


OK. Ask your sister what the HHO Gas is? I know what Hydrogen is and what Oxygen is, and even what H2O is. But HHO?

A cut and paste from Wikipedia does not make it fact, if you read about Brown's gas and the statement about unproven elements it's along way from being the saviour of the ICE(Internal combustion Engine) at an affordable cost.
 
0.02millijoules = 7.450123e-012 HorsePower-Hour. or 5.555556e-012 Kilowatt-hour Thats a **** of a lot of energy expenditure. for an infinitely small amount of energy release Oh and it has to be heated and then remain heated to 570deg C for the duration of the conversion so you also need to figure in the energy requirement to get the mixture upto temp in the first place and maintain the temperature all the time the process is running.
 
It would only be water once it is combined. Not mixed.
Put two hydrogens near an oxygen and they will react with the oxygen (rust) immediately. Like i said before, water is the result of the reaction once the energy has been expended. The concept of getting power out of hydrogen and oxygen in water is like putting ash and smoke in your fireplace and expecting them to give off heat and burn into logs and coal!

If that is the case though. How can you have this HHO gas without it turning to water immediaty? I would have thought you needed to heat the gasses for them to combine to form water.

With regards to how hot they need to be to do this... Would the temprature required be greatly reduced if the gases are under great pressure.... i.e. in your engines cylinders?

Maybe im way off the mark. As I havnt done chemstry since school!!

could yer not just get continually drunk and **** in a bottle then use the same method to extract the alcohol,hydrogen and oxygen from yer ****. thats gotta produce more energy than just hydrogen and oxygen, innit?

This energy is released in the form of heat under conventional molecular processes (burning hydrogen in oxygen atmosphere). There are other ways of combining hydrogen atoms with water without it being exothermic, and the resultant enthalpy change gives electricity.

Hydrogen fuel cells employ this by passing the aforementioned HHO mixture (in this case HH and about 4 parts atmospheric air) across a really really fine carbon mesh which strips electrons off the hydrogen atoms (hence the electrical output) and they automatically want to bong with the oxygen. An before you all shout out "Yer talkin bollocks again", ask this chap here, second one down (it's me Bro)

So whats the crack?? If you put Hydrogen/Air down your air intake.. Is it gunna make your engine do more mpg?

and if so.. Is there a way of creating hydrogen on the fly in some kind of device strapped to your landy? Or would you have to load a tank up and drive around with a small bomb??

Honda have produced and are trialing an hydrogen powered car. In Los Angeles. Problem is the only way toi refuels the hydrogen fuel cell is to drive it back to Hondas research plant in LA and have them refuel it for you. As the US government won't allow joe public to refuel their own hydrogen powered cars. I think their afraid some ****ed off white power extremist, bored goth school brat or some lunatic muslim suicide jockey might decide to blow the neighbourhood half way to denver.

Of course you can get energy from Hydrogen. There is no question about that. It reacts explosively with oxygen and forms water. Unfortunately for every KW of power you get out of it from this explosive reaction, it took 3kw of power to separate it from an O molecule in the first place! All you're doing in creating hydrogen is storing (very ecffectively) 1/3 of the energy you put in to get the hydrogen in the first place.

And where does that energy come from to make the hydrogen?.....

FOSSIL FUELS!!!

The only way to generate hydrogen in a carbon neutral form is to have some solar cells with 2 electrodes in a big pool of water. Oxygen will bubble up from Cathode and Hydrogen from Anode.

Sure I remember doing that in a science class.

Then you collect the Hydrogen in a test tube and let the teacher (cus its too dangerous for kids) put a lite spill into it and ......... Bang! (or more like a pop as I remember it!!) ...... Or maybe that was the Oxygen!!



Anyway... You rekon this could be done on a large enough scale for the world to harvest enough H (hydrogen not heroin!!) to power all the **** we burn coal for??
