What year is the series 3 ? some bits went metric in early 80s. Does it have a 5 bearing engine? You can tell 5 bearing job by "herringbone" style ribs on the crankcase (side of block)
Do a search for throttle cable on this site, I posted earlier this year when thinking of swapping from rod to cable. Nitmare posted up some good pics of his motor showing cable.
For stop cable, late models are on the steering lock. Most end up with an aftermarket job through the bulkhead to the stop on injector pump. You can use a choke cable for this.

The tappings in the block for engine mountings are 1/2". Logic tells me UNC as most cast parts use course threads, memory however tells me that it is 1/2" UNF.
If you are reffering to the rubber engine mount sizes it will be 3/8" UNF or if later replacement mounts are being used will be M10 If you change the rubber mounts consider spending the extra money on genuine items. Much smoother running than the £4 or £5 aftermarket jobs. Dont ask me how I know this..........
