I have been doing it for 30yrs, and what was agood job is now crap, you need to workfor a company that does not rely on the lorries for income, like supermarkets etc., but anything involved with the "foodchain" will mean weekend work.
I work for one of the national parcel carriers on night trunking and its about the best job i have ever had, and just 50 hrs. a week.
The best thing about driving is you can pick your nose while working:eek:
 
i quit lorry driving 15 years ago for all the afore mentioned reasons. i know clean windows
9.00am ish -4pm ish, home for lunch, loads of tea breaks, mon - fri.
£35000 last year.
