Someone has to pay tax to pay your pensions.
Dunno about you but I'm still paying tax to pay my pension. I think I got royally twisted,in the fashion of a bottle top, somewhere

Its more a point of work pensions are taxed, injury pensions are not. Mainly because the War Disablement Pension doesn't reach the taxable threshold! I'm sure if it did they would soon start taxing it. The AFCS is slightly different as it is based on a tax free lump sum. Its all quite a pain in the bum whichever way it's looked at. However, a comparable is someone who has never worked a day in their life gets around the same per week , on JSA as a 40% assessed disabled Service person.I don't actually have a pension, except my savings, self employed people rarely do.
In due course I will get a state pension, but I am some years off that at the moment.
Sorry to hear that your pension arrangements are not good. Several of my friends who were invalided out have done OK out of it, but maybe it has been eroded over time.
