OK Please call me stupid (ok ignorant would be better) and hit me with a stick for being stupid, but do Freelanders make weird noises when using HDC and various other slow manouveres, or is something wrong. I have heard this noise at slow speed approaching traffic lights, engaging the HDC and reversing onto our drive at 1 MPH... Other sites have said this is normal, but coming from an engineering background and having fully rebuilt an MGB 1966 I find this really difficult to believe. In my book these noises are death rattles? Am I wrong?

Any ideas?

If it is normal, what is abnormal?

Thanks for your help guys

Your stupid:p:p:p:p

:welcome2: to the mad house:D:D

Ask them nice gents in the Gaylander section, there a helpful lot;);)

When using the HDC on my Disco 2 there's a chattering sound from under the bonnet as the ABS system sorts itself out, plus the "grinding" from the brakes as the computer does its work. So the HDC is probably normal... probably. I can;t vouch for any other noises etc. due to not having a Hippo. Why on earth would you need to use HDC reversing onto your drive at 1 mph ??

Your stupid? What has my stupid got to do with it?

Oh.... I see. You mean YOU'RE stupid - as in a contraction of you are stupid. Grimmer

Actually I'm not that stupid, I've got a degree in engineering and could probably build a better vehicle than the freelander, but I am stuck with it this year and appreciate your help with what seems to be a somewhat fickle vehicle..

I will put it on proper off road use and see how it goes when I have got to grips with it...
