sorry I went off investigating.

perhaps the problem is that the car needs to
Be driven for a bit, it’s waiting on its MOT so it’ll get an outing there.

I have had a look for the pesky sensor and I can’t bloody find it.

I checked in Rave (my diagram
Had the wrong numbers !) but I still
Cant find the sensor or where it should be.

I’m assuming LHS in front of the air-con condenser ? Or is it behind the radiators ?
All I can see is this mysterious blue plug at the rear.

there’s nothing in the LH pollen filter / air duct (and at least no water now !).

I’m a bit perplexed and any help would be much appreciated....

The mysterious blue plug is for the transmission cooler temp sensor. Apart from low battery, that's the only way the car senses gearbox overheat !!
 
I found it ! Looks like a bugger to get to but I’ve to take the bumper off to replace the air-con condenser and drier anyway.

Unfortunately I also found a significant oil leak from the oil cooler too so maybe this job is gonna grow arms and legs...

You may find you need new hoses as well if you have to change the oil cooler as the threads usually strip off the cooler and stick in the pipe unions.:eek:

I actually bought one of the pipes and then read about the treads on the cooler.
What do I need to sort it properly ? Send and return hoses, cooler and ‘o’-rings ?

Any handy tips ?

It kinda makes sense to do it while I’m in there, doesn’t it ?

oh, and, those pesky star bolts holding on the bumper, does anyone know which particular size of socket I need for them ?

I don't remember taking the bumper off to replace the aircon condenser. Pretty sure I just unbolted it and it slips out.

If you do want the bumper off, unclip at each side (where it clips to the wing), undo the 2 star bolts from the chassis rails, push down where the bolts were until it clunks and then pull forward.
 
If you sensor is in the LH air intake, it is common to see a much higher temp on the HEVAC than it actually is. The reason is airflow. Living in OZ it is not unusual to see the temp at over 40 degrees if I have the HEVAC off. Turn it on, drawing in outside air, and the temp displayed quickly drops to what you would expect to see.

One of the bolts that hold the oil cooler on has a top hat washer on it to allow the cooler to move as it expands when it gets hot you will notice one of the mounting brackets has an elongated hole. As for those bumper bolts mine were so rusty I had an old socket set so hammered on the tightest one I had and replaced them and refitted with plenty of Copperslip.
