Hi All,

im hoping you could help. my 130 running a 300tdi has a suspected failed head gasket and the timing belt needs changing at the same time.
im really struggling to find a garage that will actually do the job, I keep drawing blanks all the time. can anyone recommend someone or somewhere which it could be done?

im based in potters bar.

many thanks
Kyle

Neither is a hard job, you will most likely find people associate old land rovers as hassle (which to be fair can be very true!) so will avoid at all costs, add in the fact there wont be to many mechs who are familair with the breed.

I thought there were 'indies' virtually everywhere, but perhaps Herts (my home county, though I've not lived there for 57 yrs.) is so affluent that all LR owners patronise main stealers ;)
Where I am in Essex there are 2 indies within 12 miles & used to be one only 10 mins. walk away, until the guy retired.
Good luck with the search & your problem solving.

You could try Howe Engineering, at Hare Street, near Buntingford, Herts. Independent Land Rover (and Saab) specialist. I was pleased with their service.

If you know which end of a spanner is the handle and which is the hammering end you should be able to do it with help from the forum. Time set aside is the issue yes.
