Sunday 10:00 Jansel House A505 Stopsley, Luton

On the roundabout as you come from Hitchin.

Start local and see how far we get.

I Will need to get to work at some point, My boss used to have an Alfa, before he got his Porsche. I was Picking him up on my way in at least once a week cause it was broken
Hi mate, i've got a Mondeo Ghia X 2.5 V6 as a bit of toy, power chipped, induction kit and power flow twin out exhaust system. Puts out about 230 BHP. Not as good as when they fit the same engine in the Noble sport car with twin turbo's putting out 420 BHP, but still quick enough for a scrapped Porschs project engine.

Sunday is ok for me so I'll be there. I need to be back about 5ish, so will need to bail at about 4 depending where we are.

Thanks for the frank advice Andy! Just wanted to see if Icould find something in my price range to get me out of trouble without any bells or whistles....

Up for Sunday... should be seeing you all at J house at 10! Will try to get the CB fitted tomorrow then!

This is along the right lines but from memory a T7 is only rated at 1500kgs. Still not enough to pull out a properly boged suzuki never mind a fully laden disco going the best part of 3 tons with occupants. You can easily end up needing snatch blockes even with a 9500 pound unit.

Whaddon springs to mind. A stuck pick up truck td5 90 took 2 vehicles fitted with 9500s and even then it could have done with a third winch to help the process.

Mud sticks like glue. Fallen trees/branches act like ground anchors wedged under your axles and chassis, peat bog takes it to whole new levels of horribleness, rocks require mountain movers! Get the biggest winch you can possible afford that does not impede your own vehicles off road performance and you will eventuarly come across a time you need more than what you have.

I have a lot of time for tirfor winches. But remember you have to carry the whole damn thing and the wire rope by hand to hard to reach places before you can use it. But it still is the most reliable winch out there.

I had a quick go at it last week. Managed to unbend the Z shaped bit of wing with g-clamps and lengths of wood so it points roughly downwards, but its stll fairly crumpled. When I get some more time I'll try annealing it and beating the larger lumps out of it, but instead of doing that I ended up sorting my indicators instead. It turned out not to be a bulb or dodgy earth for once, but a problem with the 12V feed. I'm assuming it was a loose bullet connector (I was getting voltage, but no current flow) but I coudnt find it, so ended updoing a re-wire instead. I havent pressure washed it since we went out so it wasnt a fun job with lumps of mud falling in my face when I was running the new cable down the top of the chassis member.

Oh damnit! Im just so glad that sarcastic woman didnt walk back down the lane and chose a different way home!! What on earth would she have said?? Haha among all of her blabbering :blabla::blabla::blabla: i heard about how she took an xc90 around an offroad course once.. thats about it  That and how men can't read maps :D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:
