Hopefully meet some of you at some point in future!

Well my old man has been playing in his lil workshop:

I need to fit a std length steering column to an old series 1 80 inch trials motor.

Cannot cut down the steering column not allowed regs say no way so we had to do a few mods to gain as much room as possible.

Original steering boss:

New fabricated plate and old boss turned down:

Painting the boss to prevent it from rusting:

New Boss and steering wheel all bolted up to go on motor:

This steering boss has lowered the steering wheel by 32mm it doesnt sound alot but it has helped no end!

Now for the other end!!

Managed to extend the splines on the lower steering shaft enabling me to cut the shaft down.

Hehe Well I got in it and the steering wheel position is good now with 90 seats and cage height/head height is good but i think I'll have to live with crossed up legs but hey ho!

Can't wait Andy has been mega busy building the engine up shouldn't be too long before we can bolt it in!

I have run a fuel line and pump. I need to wire it up to the dash ign switch gong to solder and heat shrink all joints to ign and fuel pump. Have seen too many RRC with dodgy wiring/solonoids causing fuel pump problems and I don't want any of that nonsense. I have ordered a 200tdi Rad so will need to spend some time plumbing it all up and make use of the oil cooler as its there.

There is a comp in October locally but that might be a pushing it a bit. I think once its running and drives i.e drives about/movable that will kick my ass into gear to get it comp legal asap.

Did the guy collect the series 1?

He is going to help me out but last time it was only a con rod that he replaced. Not the belt. Back for a few more days than expected I guess!

I got a Wedding Saturday and Spydie is steeling me tyres only joking!!! Borrowing a tyre.

I may pop up but its a bit weird because you used to get a good deal at a show and now its only worth going for the 2nd hand landy parts and even alot of the traders are asking silly money for crap really.

Can I justify paying to get in ......................... I might come up in the morning for the s/h parts I know Spydie is up there for the day and the rangyboys are up there from tomorrow no doubt quite drunk after they have setup camp.
