Are you meeting this wednesday then?. We had a winch with us but it looked too big really abotu a foot and a half in diameter. I will see if i can get a picture off my mate. I think it would be a bog hassle with a bow saw too.

You could probably drag it with enouch effort but its fairly large, would take a few cuts to get it too a dragable size.

The lane is split into two halves, the one that joins Horn hill with bendish lane is where the tree has fallen.

Not a job for an evening really, I don't mind going on Saturday if someone's around. Better with 2 people really, much safer.

I have weds off work so I was thinking about in the day time but I doubt anyone else will be free, dont know what Ryder is doing? I wouldnt do it alone

Jack,
that lane is steeply downhill and tight at the top from the water tower, done it loads of times. Don't bother going on your own, especially without a winch. There's no room to manoeuvre if you're just going to rely on towing the tree out of the way.

This was the issue we had, strangely the bank isnt too high on the left of it and we managed to get up the bank and around the tree. but it was far too big for us to winch out. i think a chainsaw would be be the best wayand then towing the log

I dont think any of us have a chainsaw or licence so it will have to be a bit of hard work with a bow saw or 2.

My Bow Saw is like a razor blade, it should do the job. Chainsaw is easier, but like you say a licence is required.
