No it's a 1988 90 so already has coil springs put rear axel on from disco so have disc brakes all round put 2" lift lit stearing guard and snorkel. But got bord of power from 19J so put 3.9 v8 efi in from a disco I brought cheap

Cool! have you had to mount your engine right forward in the engine bay to get your propshafts right or did you move the gearbox position rearward. Pub meet is First Wednesday of the month The white lion chalk hill dunstable on the A5 just north out of Dunstable

Oh no the V8 boys are catching up! No worries its winter soon all that damp weather will and rain and water will show up those V8's! Hehe

Us v8s will struggle through mate! I already shouted about the pub meet on the other forum but I do think it wqould be a good one for us to support a little

U won't be saying that when I am pulling u out of a rut or something :)

Yea! That won't happen anytime soon! but everyne has to dream I suppose! Lol! Only joking Kev dragged my 90 for a wee bit last year when I had no reverse!

Yea sorry Ryder I saw that there post on the other forum didn't read it sorry mate. yea looks good looks a bit dead needs to liven up a bit!

Truck cab er I'd be interested if its cheap but haven't got one to swap, only other parts/small ammount of dosh. Post up a pic mate of your landy!

Bloody gas bottle I got with C02 in has a knackared valve/top so I can't get any gas flow. ****er cos the welder seems to work a treat. Anyone know where I can get a regulator for the cheapo gas bottles to small bore 6 to 8mm pipe fitting?

Use a fire extinguisher for a co2 bottle it works a treat my father in law ownes his own business so will have a old one kicking about if you need it??On my iPhone not computer will post some pics tomorrow when on the PC

No Problems Sibel,

I really want to use argonshield or equilevent but bottle rental is stupid prices. I have heared of a place where you but the bottle and just pay to top it up no rental I have a C02 bottle but its not rated nowhere near the pressure rating that argon is filled to. Bit stuck. Spitfire has a BOC account may have to chat to him see whats best

Get a diving bottle it hold silly pressure and you can put anything in it, co2 will do the job as it's only used as a cooler for the weld so unless your doing alloy welding it will be ample.

Think you may be slightly off with what the inert (Although Co2 is not actually an inert gas) gas does in a mig welder.

From my limited knowledge the gas is not there to cool the weld.

Its primary objective is to shield the weld pool from Atmosphere which has hydrogen, nitrogen and other gases that would cause defects in the weld pool resulting in a poor quality weld or pourous weld. For stuff I wish to learn to do, I don't want to compromise with C02 its not as good as say argonshield. C02 produces more splatter and a less stedady arc.

Its not as high a quality weld as what could be achieved for a few quid more which will be subject to scruteneers eyes possibly at national comps so I should aim for the best I can get to give me the best chance although cost is a big issue I don't want to compromise with using C02 if I can help it.

Yeah think you are right I must of miss understood the bloke who done my engine mounts lost intrest as he was really trying to teach me everything in 10 mins and couldn't take it all in lol.

Ryder If you see hear or aquire any welding bottles/regulators let me know I have a small bottle of Argon/C02 mix but need a regulator to get it working properly. First results minus gas seem promising quite powerful for a small 150A machine.

Runinning out of time. I was aiming to get the trailer filled with dirt and emptied before the weekend because I plan on using the trailer to carry my tools/tyres to the offroad comp Saturday. I maybail out on Sunday comp as I need to crack on. Would be nice to have the welder up and running to make some gates aswell at some point. Xmas and cold weather is coming shed ordered and delivery imenant no base as yet and its getting dark after work now days! Doh!

You can use pure CO2 as it shields the weld pool just fine. What it does do however is cool the weld very quickly. This means you need to use much more power to obtain the same penetration as can be achieved with a tri-mix gas. This means more splatter etc.

Pure CO2 is used when combined with preheaters at larger industrial factories.

If you have a large welder with ample spare capacity and some fancy settings you can use pub CO2 bottles just fine. It will seriously hamper your efforts when used with cheap, small welding machines.

Just for sh.ts and giggles, a tri mix gas comes in a choice of gas mixes depending on application. CO2, argon and oxygen. Go figure!

Oi spitfire your supposed to be working Lol!I'll wait til your about some point to come have a look see with this welder.
