Hi mate, there's 3 ways you can remove the body. lift the whole body off with a good size fork lift or crane or 4 large stands 2 polls, jack the body up slide the polls in under the body and sit on top of the stands and roll the chassis out. Or cut it up, cut all roof pillers at bass and remove roof. The pillers can then be folded in and roof folded in half. The rest can then be cut up in sections small enough to be lifted by 2 people. we cut the floor in line with the rear door just behind the rear seats and lift the load space away, then cut accross the floor behind the front seats and remove that section, then the last cut is accross the rear of the inner wings just in front of the bulk head. Lift off the front and then the bulk head and front foot wells. To do it this way the shell will have to be fairly stripped down, we do all the cutting with a 9 inch cutting disc on an angle grinder. would also be a good idea to have a fire extinguisher handy.

cheers kris i'll prob end up cutting it in pieces as its more managable either by myself or with someone else.already got a fire exstinguisher ready mate to be on the safe side.
is there anything else i should look out for.

I could bring it down and meet somone ****er as i was down bournmouth last weekend

Hey Lee,
The axles are hammerite smooth black, the radius arms are undercoated in primer and sprayed in a plasticoat black spray can from b and q.
My 90 will be like new underneath all new bushes, new ball joints, new Uj's, reconditioned front calipers and new rear cylinders etc think the hardest thing will be resisting destroying it again. Keeping out of the mud.

Cheers jai,i think i'll be picking some up this week.i'll be putting a new thread up in the discovery section on the project so keep an eye out.

i will get to one of the pub meets soon so i can meet you all and put faces to the names.

open to suggestions although on a purley selfish note the nearer to Tring the better for the offroad club anglian as they are based in and around Tring. I think the old chalk hill might be worth a try I think its the white heart or white horse but any ideas welcome.

its on the A5 as you go north out of Dunstable down the hill on the left near a car dealership. Its about 500 yards up from the Leighton Buzzard bypass roundabout seems close to most people i reckon. Big enough car park just gotta go see one eve but seems good enough to me.

That's a good size pub - sure is local for us too. I still think the packhorse is a good idea. Local - easier access from Tring - good real beer on tap; not too expensive and accustomed to entertaining clubs - site of international beer festival each year - good parking...

seems to tick all the boxes

No worrries mate; I already let your missus know that you only cleared the garden to make sure there was room for another landy! LOLOL

Need some advice though...

You all know that a few months ago I bought Kai a Mig Welder. He has been practising and welding up new camera brackets and so on. We've checked that the nozzle is clean and so on.

Today while we were seriously fabricating new bits for the landy (playing like children) the welding wire stopped feeding. We pulled out the old wire and attempred to feed a new length down to the gun. afew feet before it arrived we were amazed to see it protrude through the insulation type cable housing. We took it back, checked and tried again. Same result.

Is this a fault with the welder that I should go back to tools direct and talk about; or a recognised problem that happens sometimes and has a normal solution?

Thanks for any guidance.

I should mention that we have made sure that ALL the wire was removed from the sheath... pulled from both ends you could say!

Chris

I could be wrong but I thought the wire runs in a bigger more HD version of a bicycle bowden type cable with a plastic outer metal spiral inner in which the wire should feed smoothly. If you are saying its coming out the outer then the inner spiral of metal has been kinked, bent or squashed making the easiest route for the wire to feed through a gap formed where its been bent. Not uncommon on the cheaper welders on Ebay there is loads of welders with broken "guns". I take it you fed it through while holding the cable up in a straight line for it to run smooth?

yea was on gardening duty today managed to have our tea in the garden. Must be getting old! Anyways cleared the patio of gearboxes and axles. Dug up the lawn ready for seeding well half the lawn.

Might have a BBQ this year at some point. Think a landyzone BBQ could be a laugh especially if the close is full up of landys!
Anyways anyone have a need for a good 3.5 Efi lump all there except alt? Need to clear out too much stuff! Failing that I'll whack on my old axles and flog a rolling chassis with g'box bulkhead engine front and rear axles ect on ebay next month.

On the more expensive welders they have a replaceable plastic liner, but on the cheeper ones the whole gun has to be replaced. Happens a lot when someone learning to weld, damages the liner when the wire gets stuck at wrong ampage settings, but it's the only way to learn. Hate it at work when the guys use the welder to play at welding then i have to use it for a job.
