Caught some video of a land rover rescuing flood stricken victims on the BBC web site. Can't help wondering how many of those that are helped will return to their anti 4x4 campaigns once the flood waters subside.

S'gone bloody quiet on here today!

Did the handbrake on the shogun today ready for the MOT that ran out last month!!

Still think it is gonna need to have replacement shoes though.

Removed the exhaust on the disco, unbolt the rest tomorrow ready to drop the gearbox. Still on the lookout for a hoist if anyone has one to hand!:)

Back at it tomorrow... Thanks for the loan of the gazibo spyderman, t'was a sure way to stop it raining!

evening Ryder

Went out and did a half day Land Rover Experience in a Discovery 3 today. Took my father in law with me who had never been off road before and I think it opened his eyes as to the capabilities of a Land Rover

Hi guys, guess not much happening this weekend then. Anyway, I was in N.Wales, anyway, have bought a second hand master cylinder/ABS booster valve on eblag and hope to secure a speed transducer so hopefully I can get the ABS and the speedo working this side of Christmas. Then I suppose early inthe New Year I need to do the front suspension bushes and swivel seals. Not really looking forward to that.

How's everyone else? Hope you're all well and keeping your heads above water. Hope to see you all soon. Cheers.

Hey Kev, Mrs Ryder says to mention her tap and your kind offer;)

Mrs.Ryder is welcome, should be able to take a look see this coming weekend. It might be a silly question but do you know if the tap in question is mains or gravity fed? Easy way to tell is turn tap on then put finger under tap and try to hold the pressure. If you can stop it then it is gravity if you can't or if you struggle it is mains.

You will also need to know where the stop cock is and also the isolator valves off the main storge cistern. Sounds complicated I know but it isn't really.

OK. So the shogun went for the MOT today. Failed on:

Front Reg Plate Missing (easy fix)

Reg plate lamp not working (probably easy fix)

(n/s idler joint) Ball joint has excessive play wtf is a n/s idler joint?

nearside front CV joint gaiter is split. (Easy fix?)

nearside front anti roll bar linkage rubber deteriorated

both front wheel bearings

nearside inner sill

Rear brake shoes must be replaced for handbrake.

Other than that nothing at all wrong:wtf:

So no driveable motor for the forseeable future.

Like Homer once sang... If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all!

Ryder,
Nothing terrible there, but like you say it's your only serviceable motor atm, so bit of a bummer. Looks like you'll be getting oily.

S'posed to be at a meeting in Leagrave at Noon tomorrow for a software demo. Hmmm what's the chances of getting it done by then... not a lot methinks.

Just nipped in for some dinner... back out there in a short while.

:(

Ryder, all evening and you've only changed a lightbulb?

Naah the problem was a little more involved than that... corrosion working its dastardly way I believe. Cleaned it all up stripped out the light housing which involves removing half the door trim and removing the outer boot handle assy. Then sort it and put it back together. So in short.

Yes a whole evening just to change a lightbulb!
:kettlepot: A whole summer JUST to change an engine?

NAH! Much more involved than that. 1st I had to rebuild the engine then fit it and make an engine mounting and this that and the other and .............................................................................................Lots of other stuff :frusty:
