How did you get that out in the end?
It's still there, he just buried it, Shogun RIP.:D

Which particular one. there are so many?

Ashwell - 4 hours, Me with a Tow Rope.

40 Foot Lane - 11 hours, Me & jai with a winch.

Ashwell - 27 hours, 2 Tractors, first one gave up.

I can vouch for these guys in no uncertaiin terms. I got stuck in a lane and Jai was horrified that I decided to leave the vehicle and go back the next morning... and that must have been gone midnight! Jai was all set to help me winch the vehicle by hand... inch by excrutiating inch for as long as it took. I have to tell you that you just can't fault help like that and I shall forever be iin his debt... especially since he wasn't out with us that day and he turned up late at night with a spotlessly clean machine, (though it didn't stay that way for long!)

Every one of us, I am sure, are committed to making sure that everyone is fine and safe on every trip, and though I am usually the one in the most trouble, I subscribe to that ethic also.

Just like the SAS no one gets left behind.

hey, the Shogun did help with the ditch issue...not much of a claim to fame but surely worth a mention!

Hopefully next year we will all have the trucks and the metle to have that 40ft lane at santa pod for breakfast. Now thats something to work towards!

Cheers,

This may be a completly outragious idea, but how about a organising (that horrible word that means input) a gathering to raise money for some worthy causes?

This all came about while chatting to Colin at Autoland a year or so ago when we tried to organise an event in Houghton Regis Pit. This will never happen the owners ar not interested but I have a few ideas:

Whaddon site,
Possibly a fun day,
inc:
Treasure hunt,
Blind fold driving/navigation,

Tactical tyre pull,
lots of mud!
&
Somthing for the kids push bike course,
any other sensible ideas,

Mabe get Colin from team chaos, as he does sterling work at many events around the UK for various charities, inc Macmillan Cancer support, and others.

I'm sure I can wangle some sponsorship from Autoland and other sources.

Whats everyones take on the whole thing?

Jai

Jai,missed this post but I think its a great idea. Don't know whether you have a favourite charity in mind but if not I have one locally whose chairwoman would be able to generate a great deal of local media interest. nothing wrong with using our hobby to generate a few quid for a worthy cause.

Ashwell's gonna get another visit from me when my disco's all sorted aswell.
Once we've got the winch up and running, I'm up for that. Depending on how the Landy performs with the new rubber, might have a go anyway. Mind you it should be pretty flat now after Ryder smoothed it out.

Don't know why it's called Forty Foot Lane, but that's it's proper name.
Might as well be 40 ft deep, It's seriously wet and very, very muddy, It's hardly ever open.

im also running BIGGGGG tyres and uprated prop shafts and half shafts so will be up there with the best :D :D

Alright, alright... Spyderman even you have to admit it was a challenging lane.

I'velearned my lesson... the disco is a better vehicle by far. The confidence is provides when comparing it to the shogun is quite dramatic, however there are points where the shogun scores.

I personally belive the Shogun puts up a good performance as an all round vehicle, the lack of cruise control on my disco is, in my opinion, a shame. The gearing of the shogun makes it very definite whether you should be in high or low ratio, (though sometime it makes little difference cos you are still stuck whatever!)

If you are going to be stuck the Disco has more space than the shogun, but no cup holders in my version.

And finally ( and you will not appreciate this unless you have a 20 month old baby who likes laning) The disco will not let the baby's head come into contact with the window when you hit deep ruts, whereas the shogun would, causing me to slow or stop rather than allow her to be hurt. oops that's not in the shogun's favour but you get the idea.

AND... having selectable 4wd is nice. and the availability of two diff locks can be helpful!

Oh and one last thing.... Spyderman, would you post the weekend dates through August and maybe early sept that you're free for a fri=>sun date in salisbury. I persoanlly have no committments and we should start ttrying to narrow the dates down. DB says he has a perfect camp site in mind and he is going to contact them tomorrow (today)

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for spelling and grammar mistakes. They occur more frequently as the blood content in my alcohol system balances out.
