Hey Kev... could I call on your guidance on Saturday if you're not too busy. Just to look into this throttle seal thingy problem with me. Don't need you to do thye job necessarily, just to be there when I screw it up!

I should think that will be alright, I should be about. It should not be a particularly difficult job just remember to work methodically and make sure you have a clean and tidy work space.

I would suggest you get some carb/intake cleaner so you can clean the plenum, you will also need some Blue Hylomar or similar sealing material. "O" rings I have got, I seem to think a slide vernier is needed to check the position of the throttle butterfly but apart from that I think it is just normal tools and common sense.

Good luck mate.

Dan i have a spare front axle in the garage but it is pre tdi dont know for sure if you could swap a whole end and some bits and pieces about to get you on the road again Will have a look see. would mean that you have different drive members no each side till you fixed your own hub assuming the axle case isnt damaged it if its compatible Jai

Dont know what you mean spyderman? lol! although my rear brake effiencys were exactly equal. This front axle is just a spare Jai

will be having another wack at it tonight! have bought new hub nuts as the inner one would not budge for anything! and i suppose we'll go from there,
have never noticed the wheel bearing going, me n neil drove over to ely in it the other day and he didnt notice, it literally just went all of a sudden, is a right mess in there though got to the inner nut and just metal and bearing bits all over the place. bugger.......

Dan

Thanks for your oncern brett, was quite nasty! left a lovely skid mark i can lay claim too for weeks haha!

Is anyone still going out for a play this Sunday?

It looks like there are a few mechanical gremlins stopping a few of you, but as I should be collecting my freshly MOT’ed 90 from Joe Edwards this afternoon, I’d be up for a play.

Fire over a PM if you’re out and about.

Cheers

Is anyone still going out for a play this Sunday?

As far as I know, a few of us are likely to be going out Sunday. Watch this space.

99Claydond glad you still in one piece, sounds like a sphincter factor 10 moment:eek: , bits welded to stub axle doesn't sound too good either. Anyway, if you want to tag along if we go out on Sunday you are welcome to ride shotgun.

Well im now in the out of service club, front wheel bearing went in spectacular fassion today. locked the whole front drivers side wheel up, sending me on to the opposite side of the road into on coming traffic and left a nice long skid mark along the road, fortunately, no injuries or damage.
after being recovered i bought all the parts to attempt to fix it, and guess what? its all welded and stuck together nicely! seeing as i havent got a clue what im doing or how to fix it i will be off the road untill DB can come and fix it on Monday. bit of a bummer for me as this is my every day car so am also car-less!
S*** Day!!

Dan

Jeez Dan you don't do things in halves do you! Glad you're ok though, I am sure DB Master of the black arts will have you up and running in no time!

Talked to Kev & Jai. Sunday is still very much on.
Won't be a late finish, as clocks go back and we don't fancy groveling around in the dark on a Sunday night. Probably about 9ish till about 4. Start Ashwell, do the hard one first, as there's an easy option for folks who don't want to or can't do that one. Then a pretty easy day, will revisit that great pub for lunch, then aim to finish at Furneaux Pelham for a little swim to finish.

Just had a little look and wondered if there were any thoughts where to meet up on Sunday. What do folks think about the pub we meet at? It is pretty much in the middle and is a good place to start from for our intended area of laning. Apart from that, most of us know where it is and anyone who doesn't should find it quite easily.

Kev, if you are starting at Ashwell then you will be too far south. Best place to meet is at Shefford or clophill. Ashwell is just a 10 minute drive from there.
