Yarwell is a good site, but it's a slap up to the other side of Peterborough.
You're lucky you can go anywhere, I'm just sitting looking at mine broken, but it will return in a magnificent state with a V8
Yarwell looks good to me. If you'd like, you're welcome to come along with me?
The new project has arrived My 3rd RRC. Spent a few months looking for a solid one and then this came up. 12 months MOT. Solid chassis. Scabby bodywork!! I'm not sure what the plans are for it yet. Probably a rolling restoration. Some new rims and maybe a lift (nothing too aggressive as I still have the 110 for that). I'm also going to teach myself to spray in the summer. The plan is to prep and pain this thing myself. Should be fun learning.
I also need a favour from anyone local to me. Im thinking of some deepdish 16x8 black modulars. Maybe an offset of -30 ish. Ive done some calculations and worked out that these with some 255/70 tyres should fit ok and sit just slightly outside the arch (the look im going for). Can anyone local who has these rims let me come over and fit one to see how it sits? It's currently sitting on 235/70/16 general grabbers on stock rims. Ill keep these for spare.
I'm going for power steering, because it's relatively easy and it'll stop the steering kicks off road and make it a lot easier at very low speeds.
What's the plan on that spydy? I have seen some nice systems based on the P38 steering box as it fits outside the chassis. I got some details off a chap one OLLR FORUM. you need a 90 steering column though

V8 it's the only way
But I thought you was diesel man for life
Are you going to run it on carbs or injection
I thought the LEZ was for commercial vehicles only and your is a station wagon or is it not

Spitfire prefers carbs, I think I do really as they sound better, but if a decent 3.9 EFI comes up that's OK too.
I'm going to hook it up to my Southdown snorkel somehow as well as the Megasquirt.
I've been looking at videos on Youtube of V8's in Series, they go like **** off of a teflon coated shovel, plus instant grunt off-road, what's not to like.
I only went diesel because that's what it had when I bought it, but with the 37" tyres it's so gutless, can only just do 50 on road and it runs out of puff when it sees any sort of hill both on and off road.
I've got 68 bhp now or did before I killed it, Tdi gives me 113 bhp, V8 gives me anywhere between 150 -175 bhp, plus the engine is shed loads lighter.
I'm not in the slightest worried about fuel consumption, it's only a toy, I think I did less than a 1,000 miles last year.
I used to have a Ford 1923 Model T Hot Rod with a clown 2.5 L Daimler V* Hemi in it, pushed about 300 bhp, so in answer to your question, V8's are in my blood not diseasel.
Nothing can beat the sound of a V8
Are you doing a chassis change, or leaving it for later?

I like your thinking. Megasquirt you will needed a hotwire 3.5 or a 3.9 or 4.2 BHP wise you should be a bit more with a good one. Hoping to be getting toward 200bhp with my 3.5 flapper but that's remapped with couple of other tweeks. Will you be keeping your series box or swap it? You could even go auto What's your timescale?
