I call, once again, on everyone's good advice. I have a Freelander 1 XeDi 2000 reg. The lights in front of the sunroof are not working properly.

When I lock/open the car with the fob they do come on and turn off in a nice progressive way, but when I try to press the button to turn them on when I'm in the car they won't come on?

Is this a normal fault and is there a fix?

Not heard of it before but the cables behind the lights may have come away from the switch.

i assume you mean the button on the light and not the fob buttons...

how's does the plastic casing come off?

If I remember correctly

pop the lens covers of with a small flat bladed screwdriver
and then there are 2 screws holding the unit to the roof

I think that should be t'other way round.Check the book of beans first,then ask silly questions in here .

Do please let us know if you find the cause of the problem.Look at the book, it explains how to remove the interior light.
