Can I ask why you two Gentlemen go at each other every now and again?
Is it because there’s no tech issues to get your teeth into?
Or are you actually really good mates and it’s just..... well you know how best mates can be type thing?

Just asking don’t want to get involved:)

I am not having a go at anyone Keith has his views i have mine. I am sure some would argue that the Model T was much better that an Escort RS turbo.

Simpler to service, I'd bet.

Anything with solid axles is going to struggle against independent suspension. There are ups and downs to everything though. See what I did there? Never mind, I'll get my coat.

For me, a good drive means that the seats don't cripple me, after an hour in the L322 I can barely straighten up.
Even the seats in a mates Defender are more comfortable FOR ME than the L322, the only seats I have found even less accommodating were in a Merc. I don't expect anyone to agree, but then others will not have the same spinal problem as me.

I have too say I find that strange. The seats in our 322 are more comfortable than the P38. They are very soft and supple for a proper “sitting” position with loads of adjustment. Maybe it’s the perforations (heated/cooled) that makes the difference?

I know not, the L322's I have been in had park bench hard seats offering little compliance or support. What's a proper sitting position? I need to have a laid back position to reduce the load on on the damaged part of the base of my spine.
Personally I do not like heated seats, but that is just my preference.

I can assure you ours are not park bench solid.
By a sitting position, I can sit in it 14+hrs driving with no problem, the upright position I find very comfy. Obviously don’t work for you, yet you drive RR and transit:confused:
Heated seats aside maybe it’s cos of the perfs that make the seats supple and soft?

On all my vehicles I can get a suitable angle of recline.
Not seen L322's with perforated seat coverings, perhaps newer versions are better/softer than the earlier ones?

Best seats ever were in my Mercedes 500SEL softest leather ever and very, very comfortable.
The P38 seats are OK, but the leather quality is not a patch on the old Mercedes.
Not had a ride in an L322 so have no experience of them.
While the L322 has probably a lot more innovation and improvements the electronic element of it puts me off completely. The P38 is bad enough.

The P38 is a piece of cake electronically compared to the L322.

Maybe your P38 seats have seen better days??
I’ve rode in few L322s very comfy but drivers position I don’t know, it a big factor to me but I haven’t drove one.
3seater Defender is about as bad as it gets, seating position has very little adjustment or room. Basically set everything as far back and wind the window down all year so you got room for your shoulder.

There are different seats available for most, if not all, models?
Personally I prefer the velour I have, comfiest seats I’ve ever had and still like new.
Saying that my E36 had very nice leather seats, hard as Keith said, but plenty of adjustment, nice shape although the low suspension killed the ride quality whatever you sat in.

But one area is the seating position that just doesn't appeal, especially if yer long in the leg and want to drive a fair distance, the seats are more ergonomic in such a way you can adjust it to some very unusual angles :D

Never driven anything later than a Classic, but the velour seats in mine are like armchairs, so comfortable despite my lower back problem.
Seat base cushions height variable both front & back & adjustable arm-rests (32 years ago) features I've never known on other cars.
OK they are not electric, but less to go wrong & the car won't fail a MOT on a malfunctioning driver's seat motor
Just my two pence worth chaps.
