Once again i need some advice please.
04 td4 freelander new crankcase breather fitted.what i believed dodgy injector replaced. oil in exhaust.
Thought i had it sorted but just before heading of to mot found a lack of power and a hell of a lot of white smoke when driving but next to no smoke on tick over.
I dont know which direction i should go next so any advise appreciated.

I believe the head gaskets good no sign of water in oil and coolant leval not changed since I bought it in Aug.
I have read a few articles that made me think injectors maybe overfueling, but just as many articles send you in different directions, turbo, fuel pumps etc.
Just not sure where to start.
Starts first time everytime, smokes white a little on start up then clears, but as soon as you start to pull away it throws out loads of white smoke feels really sluggish.
Does that sound like injector issues?
Could I overhaul the injectors or just get refurbished ones?

You can get them tested, that might be a first step before spending a lot of money.

Well just taken injectors out.2 clean and tidy,1 soot and oily and 1 oily wet and covered in brown gunk.
So guess head gasket may be at fault.

Like Nodge68 says would be surprised if it’s head gasket I’ve not known one go and nodge knows his stuff where anything mechanical is concerned

Is the gunky one the one you replaced!!?

Sounds like a bad seal, copper washer and O ring are to be replaced each time you change them. If you only changed one how did you diagnose that? Did you test the others?

Sounds like you may be chasing your rear end!! If in doubt, remove and get all tested and refurb if needed then new washers and rings and prob solved problem.

The one I replaced is one of the bad ones very oily and sooty..
Another was dirty brown and not sure if it was wet with diesel or water it was that dirty.
But all 4 had new washers and o rings the other week when I checked them, although the new o rings now look worn and frayed.
(Took a pic if only I could figure out how to upload them)
As for how I came to change the injector it was due to the nozzle being very corroded and seemed better to swap it out than try and clean it up.
As for chasing my rear you spot on.
Presently dont know if I should follow the injector route, head gasket or what.

if the pic be on your computer [ .jpg format ]
in the reply-box .. lower right .. clik on "upload file"
'choose' the pic file on your comp.
then you'll see an option displayed ..

Just a thought but could this be caused by badly seated injectors.recently seen a video on here about steel washers being sold as copper.now as mine where not oem as I doubt the o rings where as they have perished and I've quite literally driven less than a mile since fitting them.
Clutching at straws here but what do you think.

HGF unlikely on the Td4 engine. Pull the injectors and have them tested. If they're snafued then replace with reconditioned units.

Always been smokey but bought it that way in Aug.it was cheap for a reason I guess.
Taken injectors to be tested today.17.50 each so should know that outcome tomorrow.
I'll clean the bore and the seat today and order some new washers and o rings from bearmach when I know the outcome of the injectors.
