Ok here she is and I hope the picture loading works. If not I shall try again.
Been looking for a landrover for a very long time and have been following the forum for over a year picking up some very helpful tips.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to vehicles (my old job was a mechanic but done a lot of quality control for a prestige car company).
The vehicle in question is a land rover discovery 1997 manual 300tdi 103,000 miles and have a try before I buy for a week.
Interior: very clean interior slightly sagging roof lining everything electrical works, stone chip in windscreen and o/s/r door lock actuator a little slow but is getting better the more I use it.
Engine and gearbox: EGR blanked pulls like a train no smoke no oil leaks think it needs a new gear selector bias plate and springs but that's it.
Exterior: 4 new all terrain tyres, brakes all good slight dent in front wing, needs a good polish all welding has been done to a very high standard and has been fully wax oiled (had it up on the ramp) will give it another coating if purchased only proper rust is on the front wheel arch size of a 50p piece but this will be repaired before purchased, very slight paint bubbling around one corner of the rear top windows and the rear wheel arches need protecting but are solid. Had the rear carpets out and boot and seatbelt mounts are all ok.
Been a pleasure driving asking price is £2000 with mot and tax.
What does everyone think? Hard to judge how much these go for as I have seen them from anything from £500 to £4000

Pricing is kinda top end but not too horrendous - yes you could get a td5 for that but not a great one. Mileage pretty low too.

You seem to know what to look for and a weeks try before you buy says the seller must be confident so thats all good.

Go for it and enjoy :)

For a GOOD disco I'd expect to pay anywhere from 1500 to 2500.

I paid 2300 for my first which was an XS model, smart as a carrot, and had some factory extras, but found to be quite rusty. Sold a year later for 2400.

I paid around 2000 for my current disco. A standard no extras model, and while it's not pristine on the paintwork, and does have bits of rust on the body, it is solid underneath (welded once in it's whole life) and (touch wood) as reliable as an 18 year old discovery can be. Yet if I sold it, despite it being solid, I wouldn't expect to get much more than 1650ish.

The rest of the pics won't loads up , it's user error and will try on my laptop. Cheers for your help guys I will prob end up getting this one as I don't really see me finding much of a cleaner one underneath very hard judging a price as they all vary in condition also took the dog out today and she loved the boot space. Just what mods to do. Def fuel pump timing poss roof bar lights and breather kit poss a snorkle (will never prob use it but looks good)

It looks a nice motor in the picture. Only you can decide if it is what you want and if you are happy to pay the asking price. Good luck!

As above, if your happy with it for the price then all is well. I recently paid £2,000 for a '98 Tdi with 144k on it. Only issue has been the scumbag dick that sold it claimed the belts were changed at 140k, feckin weren't as the alternator belts snapped the other day. So another four hundred notes to get that and the cambelt done.
