Hi guys,
Im after a bit of help, im new the landy scene and im looking at a defender 110. I've got 2 main questions.
1. If its a panel van model or a model with no seats can i add seats legally? I've seen a few with seats in the back but no many, and ideally i want something with room in the back but the option to have more than a couple of seats in the front.

2. The models with the fixed seats, is there an option for them to fold forward to increase the room in the back?

im looking at models from 1995 up to about 07

My 04 110 has folding forward second row seats.
Guess It depends on the exact vehicle.
Seats and belts need to pass the MOT.

My 90 used to be a commercial, with van sides. It had side mounted inward facing seats fitted as standard. These did fold up, but they weren't particularly safe, especially for child seats, which arent allowed in inward facing seats. So I took them out, bought a pair of second hand Exmoor forward facing folding seats and fitted them. When fitting you need to make sure that the mountings are solid, welding spreader plates to the chassis is the best way of doing it.

I had forward facing Exmoor trim fold away seats fitted in the back of my panel van Landy. Took it to an expedition Landy specialist as I wanted to make sure it was done properly. Had to change my insurers though as the ones I was using wouldn't accept the modification.

I've
had a little read up and from this link it looks fine to add them, even without seatbelts which i find crazy!
Side mounted seats can not be used with seat belts as in a crash, the damage it does to your neck and spin would kill you. Apparently its safer for the passenger to go flying around the cap and out the front window, killing the front passenger and driver on their way out.
