Its not a new thing Turners engineering employees are known for it..

Atleast in my experience I have a dead 5.2 v8 block for them that they flat out refuse to accept back due to the spun cam bearing being "My fault" even though it hasn't been anywhere near the car yet!!

It lasted 2 pulls on an engine dyno.

The warrantee is well within accepting such an issue, but they aren't!

Oh well!

Is Turner's the only place that does the jobs? I don't get how companies keep going with a stinking attitude.
I have sung the praises of the garage I mention above, for years. It's only a couple of days since I was making excuses for them, blaming those around them. Never again. They'll never get a word of mouth recommendation from me. I'll send people to Hamish in Inverness, before I'll send them there.
The pity is a man spent years building up a good reputation for that company. He probably sold the goodwill with it, when he sold his half of the business. Now another man who has worked for years on the business, is going to see it pulled down around him. All because of a stinking attitude to customer service, and a disregard for repeat customers, by the person who bought in.

I recall @mozz smith having a hell of a time with cams going on his Thor. Not sure where the engine was from or who did the work.

Well I’ve never been spoken to like that on the phone before.
My car had a reconditioned engine supplied by Turner Diagnostics in 2016. As I’m new to these cars I thought I would contact them for advice about its history and what oil etc.
I emailed them last night and they started wanting proof that they did the work. I sent pic of receipt but thought it a bit defensive as I was only asking for advice. As I am 300 miles away I can’t take it in so thought I would ring the guy this morning. Wow what a response!!!!! Told me to stop wasting his time as he won’t give free advice and said I was being abusive!!!!! I quite honestly can say I’ve never been spoken to over the phone like that before.
I’m not one being negative about people or services but I was so shocked by his attitude I needed to vent

Looks like this virus is bringing out the worst in many. Some may know the Golden Girl has been gone since the 18th of August. Partly because she was due to go in and get a standing fault, from before lockdown, sorted, and partly because she threw up a couple of new faults.
I had spoken to the mechanics 3 or 4 times, about the new issues, and the part they knew she needed , before surrendering and getting her recovered. So the original issue was not a surprise.
Due to being busy, busy, busy, the guys at the garage couldn't fit her in until 27th August.
At the start of this week she went into the 9th week of being gone. Yesterday, she hit 8 weeks since they started work on her. There is nothing, they did not know at day one, that needs doing now. I have contacted them by email at the start , confirming what I would like looking at,if they could, and re-confirming the main parts that needed doing. Including the part that has been under discussion since the end of February. A part that I was assured is now available as reconditioned straight off the shelf, at their supplier. I was even told it wasn't cheap , around £600 , or so.
I think I have been quite fair , at leaving them to get on with the job, calling a couple of times , in two months. At the beginning of this week I made a call to see how they were getting on. Only to be told the satnav display they had sent off to be repaired, the company they sent it to doesn't repair them. Which was contrary to what they told me two weeks previous. I wasn't happy but sucked it up , and ordered a second hand unit to be delivered to them. I then phoned yesterday to check they'd received it and it worked ok. Seems reasonable to me.
During that call they decided to tell me the main part I needed was going to cost £5k! Needless to say I wasn't happy. I explained to them, I had been told that it could be sourced , as refurbished, off the shelf. To which the reaponse was 'oh I don't know anything about that. I'll have to ask the other guy , but he's self isolating, after going on holiday'.
Ok thinks me. I'll try to take the pressure off them, and see if I can source a refurbed unit. I go online and find loads. So I email the links, thinking I've done a nice thing.
Cut to today. I phone to ask if any of them are any good. Only to get a stinking attitude, and to be told it's the wrong part. I apologise and ask can they check, and if it is I'll try to find the right bit. I am then told , in a manner full of bad attitude, 'I don't know which bit it is, I've not been dealing with you. You'll need to wait until he comes back atbthe end of next week'.
So I ask, could 'he' call me, rather than yet another week. Oh my lord, you'd think I'd asked for the guy's first born. So I become p'd off. Trying to make it clear that this part was known to be needed, even before the vehicle landed on their pan, and it should have been sourced weeks ago.
Matey was having none of it. It would appear that all customer service has left the building. If any customer dare to complain, instead of taking it on the chin, or even discussing it with me, his response was "don't get angry with me, or you can just get your car uplifted and taken somewhere else."
So there we go years of custom, and thousands, and thousands of pounds paid to them, and that's his attitude. When the Golden Girl comes back, I will indeed start the hunt for another specialist indy. Even if I have to take her to the other side of the country.

Does any business genuinely give a flying pig anymore?? :(
I'd rather shut my garage than become like that with people.... It's time to do something else when you cant even be polite/respectful or professional anymore... Delete or add your own.:(

People are getting ruder all the time, I imagine if you get a certain amount of rude customers you become defensive and that leads to being rude yourself. I've noticed that East Europeans living here seem to have a rude manner in shops etc. I don't think it is an intentional thing, more cultural. When I worked for a charity, I was surprised how some people, although getting the service for free, always wanted more, it seemed to be an expectation on their part.

Wow that’s awful service

@gold rover I am gobsmacked if that is from the usual garage I know you use and I have only heard good things of
It is indeed from the usual garage, and I am one of those who, for years said only good things, and recommended them on these pages dozens of times.
Things have been subtly changing since the change of ownership but this has been a wake up call. I'll never recommend them again, and I will point anyone who wants to know what they are like to these posts.
I was very patient, waiting 8 weeks before chasing the stage of repair, and when would I get the car back. Then two days later phoning to see if they had received the part I had sourced, and if the links I had sent were any good. You'd think I'd phoned , every day since ahe'd been gone.
Also the guy who kicked off, one of the owners, sits in front of a large white board, with every job underway, written on it. It would have taken 10 seconds to turn round, find my reg no. and confirm which part was actually needed. Rather than guessing. He could also have agreed to get the other guy to phone me. It's not like the other one is ill. He's just self-isolating, he could still work from home.
If it was a simple job, I would have had the car picked up, as he suggested. However, they have the full dash out, and a few other bits out, so I have no choice but to leave her there. I suspect that is why he was such an ass, and made the comment about removing her.
After this bill they won't make another penny out of me.

This may be a time to bite your tongue for the moment and not easy with frustration building but once.... The car is repaired you can let rip in whatever fashion you feel and reap some kind of satisfaction.... After the guarantee period of course .. sorry to hear gold:(
