hi, I'm new to the site, hope I'm not stepping out of line by asking for help in my first post:)

I have just bought a 2001 RR 4.0 Westminster, all has been well untill on my way home last night, I could not turn down the heater temp it just got hotter and hotter, this morning the total opposite, no heat at all:mad: also I can't change the heater direction it stays on screen, the lights on the switched change tho:confused:

any help would be very welcome.

cheers, Mo

What does that mean in laymans terms?

the little motors that move the flaps controlling air distribution and temperature have packed up. HEVAC is the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning control unit, does it have a little book symbol on the display?

The temperature and distribution flaps inside the Heating and Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HEVAC) unit are controlled by 3 motors - Blend Motors.

The Blend Motors are prone to getting stuck and stripping the servo gears inside, or the flaps get stuck and stall the motors....

They are a right pain to get to as they are buried under the dashboard, and entails quite a bit of work to get to....

Although clever folks have devised shortcuts to the offical procedure which is to remove most of the dash....!!!!

The HEVAC head unit is the device you control with all the butons on, at times this can lose its marbles, and stores spurious faults.

Best get it onto a Fault Code Reader and see what faults are being stored in the HEVAC unit before going further....

Possibilites are the Blend motors have stalled....a look at the stored faults will determine were to go next with it.

Best get any faults stored read.

It has been known for the Blend motors to stall/fail and no Symbol to come up.

If the gears have stripped in the motors, a symbol may not necessarily show as the HEVAC system will not know the flap isn't moving as the motor still is...

Strange all 3 should go bang at the same time though....deffo get it on a fault reader and see whats going on....

Exactly what I was thinking, could it be as simple as a connector coming adrift somewhere?

That is possible, but usuallu if the HEVAC unit can't talk to the motors, it displays the testbook symbol on the HEVAC display....

All 3 motors are connecte dto the same plug on the rear of the unit...

I could possibly supply you a copy of rave and microcat, as for the landy specialist in the Dartford area I dont know of one, but I might be able to read your fault codes if you want???

Good news, problem solved:)

Took the radio out, had a good old prod and poke at the cables and connectors to the HEVAC unit and all is well (for now)
