hiya guys , im new to this forum so a big hello to all. the issue i have is ive gota a 1998 freelander with normal wing mirrors. i have bought some power fold mirrors and wired it to a spare window up/down switch. it works and all but the problem is it keeps blowing out the fuse iv put to go with the switch. i was wondering if theres anybody outthere that can help me solve this problem? pllleeaassee. any advice is welcome and appreciated. thanks. :( :)

what size is the fuse you used as motors can draw a lot of current especially if one of the mirrors folds first and the other is still moving:)

ive tried various sizes ranging from 5 amp to 25 amp. i tried a 30 amp one but the wires started smoking so i quickly took it off.

When you say it all works, do the mirrors fold in/out before blowing the fuse ?
Also have you connected the wires directly to the switch ?
According to RAVE the fuse should be 10 Amp (the motors are rated at 1 Amp each )

This is how it should be wired, they may help !!!

yes the mirrors fold in and out then a few mins to an hour later the fuse blows. just recently iv had the wires burn out. now the way iv currently got them wired is : iv got the live comming directly from a unused socket in the fuse box under the glove box, the earth comming from a common earth going to the fog lamp swicth and a fuse in the live wire both going directly to the extra switch which is a normal window up/down switch. sorry for the delayed response but iv been away for a few days. thanks alot for the diagram ianda12 will look into that and will let you know what happens. in tha mean time will appreciate any other help.
