I have a 70 Series 2A that I am rebuilding. I know the vehicle has been in a few fender benders so I’m not really worried about everything being perfect. I just got the frame back from galvanizing and I’ve got the springs and axles back on. I noticed that the rear member is about 1.5 Inches lower on the passenger’s side. There seems to be a slight twist in the last third of the frame back to the rear member. What I want to know is, Is it easy enough to try and straighten the frame (any advice on how?) or is there a way to shim or place spacers to fix it?

This can happen after galvanising, I've seen a picture of it being fixed with a JCB (or backhoe I think you call them, I get the feeling you're from the Americas from your terminology) and bending it back to shape. I think they secured one end down then pushed on the bent bit. Spacing is a bit hard as the rear mounting tabs to the body don't have a lot of play in. Maybe you could do a rough assemble with the tub and see how it all looks.

Morning everyone,
Well I think I’ve come up with an ingenious way to straighten my chassis. If all goes well and I live through it, I’ll post some pics. I should be able to start a mockup mid-week.
Other than a reverse order does anyone have recommendations as to a proper sequence?

Everyone does it a bit different but at the moment I'm going with:

Rolling chassis (frame) > Engine & Transmission > Bulkhead > Working systems (steering, brake, clutch, fuel, wiring) > Body Panels / Tub > Final fit up
 
rolling chassis
fit engine and gearbox
fit tub, fit this first as there's no adjustment available on the tub once bolted to the crossmember
loose fit bulkhead and doors

spend the next couple of hours carefully lining up the doors to the bulkhead and then the whole lot to the tub

get that correct and you'll have doors that shut nice and easily and panels that are in line

i rebuilt my 109 utility 18 months ago and my doors still shut with a nice gentle click

little tip, squirt a little waxoyl into the door latch mechanism, best lubricant for them that you can get, mine work perfectly with no having to lift the handle or banging to shut the doors

Good evening everyone.
I ran into a few snags today trying to identify the engine. Does this serial # 30700128A look right (2.25 petrol)? It’s stamped on the front left side of the block, just behind the water pump. I want to make sure I’m ordering the correct parts. As for the engine color, from what I’ve been able to find, is robin’s egg blue correct for a 70 Series 2A 88?

have you managed to straighten the chassis out yet ??

a 1.5" twist will make it difficult to line the body panels up, it will be even worse if you plan on fitting a hard top
 
I think the problem may be which way is it twisted, is the rear leg up or down? when I rebuilt my chasis I raised it on blocks and used a spirit level to get it level that way it would give a better chance to see what has really happened to the chasis.
 
No, my Plan didn’t work. It looks to me like the rear cross member (bumper) on the passenger’s side is lower than the other side. I’m trying to find a place to take it too locally.
 
Evening all,
I’m a little stuck on the engine re assembly.
I can’t seem to find a decent exploded parts diagram of the engine to re install the Alt/Generator and I lost all of my tear down pics. Can someone please post pics of an installed generator and its mounting brackets?
