hi all,

im experiancing problems with what seems to be power to my radio and hevac unit. it effects every thing in the radio area down to the 12v lighter socket. and it shuts the whole thing down the radio security light just flashes and the back light on the hevac comes on, the lights for the back lights and illuminisation all still work dim dip etc as well in the consoles.

its very starnge some times i will get in the car and it wont work after leaving it unattended. other times i can be driving along and bingo gone. it also switches back on when it feels like it! been like it a while now but its getting to me and starting to happen more regular and with this british weather it now getting rather cold.

initial thoughts would be a connector block but to effect all this?? ive tried the radio one and i cant reach the hevac one. seems to me like a live +ve power failure but which one do they all share? how to test etc.

does any one have a manual they can send me as im struggling to find wiring diagrams and manuals of how to take it all apart (not that i really want to!)

so how do you install it and open it it appears to be an .ISO file and i dont have any thing that will open it what are you using?

To quote the instructions on the download page:

"This file is an image of the Land Rover Rave CD, if you cant read this file straight away, you need to do one of two things. Either write the image to a CD, using Nero or similar - note you need to write the image to CD, not just write the file. Or you can get hold of a program such as 'Alcohol 120%' which will create a virtual CD drive on your PC, from which the file can be read, this negates the need to write a CD."

I would add that there is a rather nice freeware program called ImgBurn that will also burn the CD if you don't have Nero or similar.....

Hi
Do you able to uncompress or open a zipped file?
If so, I could send you the whole range rover manual including the most important ETM - electronic troubleshooting manual. (Also includes Discovery II, Freelander, Defender). Unzipped, the lot stands around 649Mb. Only managed to squeeze it down to 555Mb. I will look for your email or u can post it in ur reply if u dont mind everyone else knowing it.

this sounds like the problem I had with my BECM module (see Is it the BeCM). The other possibilities are fuses 1 or 8 in the underseat fuse box, or something to do with relay 7 in the underbonnet fuse box. Apparently the pins can overheat.
Hope it isnt the BECM, cos it'll cost you to fix

remove all the relays one by one in the engine bay fusebox to check for signs of burning esp the ones nearest the front l/h corner when viewed from the front of the car.
